PATIENCE: A POWERFUL TOOL IN OBTAINING THE PROMISE.
I waited patiently for the Lord; He turned to me and heard my cry
Psalm 40:1 (NIV)
Patience is an attribute gradually dying down the age. It’s now becoming a serious trepidation in the church and the world at large. It’s an attribute many don’t want to covet, but we’ve forgotten this is an instrument God uses to build and make His sons and daughters to whom He can confidently commit Himself to. Where are such men in our days? Every one of us wants things so fast, our pastors even teaches us ways to obtain Gods promise in a very quick way, forgetting that most of God’s great promises for us are only gotten through waiting patiently for Him.
He lifted me out of the slimy pit, out of the mud and mire; he set my feet on a rock and gave me a firm place to stand. 3 He put a new song in my mouth, a hymn of praise to our God. Many will see and fear and put their trust in the Lord. [Psalms 40:2-3(NIV)]
There is always a lifting up after waiting patiently for the Lord. Great promises are obtained through patience. Don’t give up, don’t stop waiting, don’t stop praying, don’t stop studying your bible, it might seem like nothing is happening but please don’t stop! Don’t look for short cut, for it is going to cut you short at the end. There’s a great reward for those who wait patiently for the Lord. It might even seem God is not responding, or probably He has forgotten you, if God never forgot you while you were a sinner how can He now forget you when you’re now saved. It’s practically impossible.
“Can a mother forget the baby at her breast and have no compassion on the child she has borne? Though she may forget, I will not forget you”! [Isaiah 49:15(NIV)]
A lifting up its on is way, a lifting up from the pit of despair, from the pit of joblessness, from the pit of poverty, from the pit of marital singleness etc. Please don’t give up now! He will not only lift you up but also set your feet on a rock, nothing shall be able to move you, it’s a lasting blessing. The Lord shall also give you a new song, a song of victory for many shall see what the Lord has done for you and will fear and put their trust in your God.
Who can do such a great thing? Bringing a man from the pit and setting him not just on the ground but on a rock, from where no one can see him to a place where everyone can see him and they begin to wonder, from where has the man come from- ‘from the pit’. That’s the reward of a man who waits patiently for the Lord. Don’t allow any man to intimidate you, let no man deceive you or put pressure on you. Hold unto His word, His word has been tried from generation to generation and has never failed, it can’t fail in your time.
Never forget this, the Lord has prepared the best for those who are willing to pay the price of waiting patiently for Him. He wants you to trust Him, to depend totally on Him, He loves you so much and He will never let you down.
